The second week of school holidays is rolling on, and Tauranga’s calendar is stacked, from outdoor movies to the start of the Young at Heart festival. Plenty of excuses to get out and about with the family.
Over in Pāpāmoa, new police sergeant Tanerahi “TK” Keno has taken charge at the station. With 15 years’ experience across frontline, detective, and negotiation work, he’s focused on community safety and making sure locals feel supported.
Meanwhile, young golfers had their chance to shine at the Carrus Junior Pro-Am, playing side-by-side with some of New Zealand’s top professionals in a curtain-raiser to the Tauranga Open.

New Pāpāmoa Police Sergeant Settles In
Meet Sergeant Tanerahi “TK” Keno, the new officer in charge at Pāpāmoa Police Station. With 15 years’ experience across frontline, detective, intelligence, and negotiation work, TK is shifting his focus from responding to 111 calls to community-based policing.
He’s already been out meeting schools, connecting with the Community Patrol, and working alongside long-time community constable Adrian Oldham. TK says his goal is to prevent crime, support locals, and make sure Pāpāmoa residents feel safe.
Outside the uniform, TK is an ultramarathon runner, a family man, and someone who believes in leading with empathy. “It’s not about arrests,” he says, “it’s about interaction and making a difference.”

Junior Golfers Tee Off with the Pros
The first-ever Carrus Junior Pro-Am was held at Tauranga Golf Club, giving young golfers the chance to play alongside some of New Zealand’s best professionals.
Eleven-year-old Barnaby Adams and 10-year-old Patch Stafford were among the juniors soaking up the experience, with Patch even paired with his idol, rising star Cooper Moore. For many, it was their first taste of competitive golf at this level.
Organisers say the event is about inspiring the next generation, with pros like Josh Geary and Moore happy to pass on tips and encouragement. The junior pro-am served as a curtain-raiser to the Carrus Tauranga Open, part of the Charles Tour.
